What does th following quote from the chapter tell you about the city?

"That was one thing about being outside the city: It makes all that nature stuff they taught us about in school seem alot more useful. She remembered now how rainwater fell on the mountains and soaked into the ground."

This quote tells you that in the city the technology has really advanced. So much that trees are genetically altered and that most things in the city aren't like things outside it.
