"Down River" post 51

If you were Tally, would you ask the warden to make you pretty?
No, I think that Tally should not have asked the warden to make her pretty. this is because I think that Tally should not want ot become it. She should not be taking the risk of her life.

"Confessions" post 50

Tally has finally come clean. Do you think she will regret it? Do you think David will change his mind about her?
I think Tally will never regret telling the truth, what she will regret is making up the lies. This may hurt David now, but if he really likes her, then he will forgive her. Eventually.

"Hippocratic Oath" post 49

Should Maddy have forced Shay to take the take the pills? Why or Why not?
Maddy was right to not force the pills to Shay, Shay did not want to take the pills, so she shouldn't have to.

"Night Alone" post 48

If you were Shay, would you get the cure? why or why not?
If I were Shay, I would not get the cure, these pills could be harmful to me and even result in fatality. I would not want to take that kind of risk.

"Get Away" post 47

What does the following quote mean to you?
"Tally thought of the lesions on Shay's brain, the tiny cancers, or wounds, or whatever they are that she didn't even know. They were in there somewhere, changing her friend's thoughts, warping her feelings, gnawing at the roots of who she was."
This quote shows that Tally really cares about Shay and knows what is going on. Tally only wants to help get rid of these lesions.

"Rescue" post 46

Give a chronological list of events in this chapter. What's the kicker at the end of the chapter?

"Inside" post 45

Is this quote a play on words or does it have a deeper meaning to the story?
"Radiology, Neurology. Magnetic Imaging." she read softly. "Operating Theatre Two"
I think that Operating Theatre two is an operating room. This one is probably special, though. I think that this room is where doctors go to learn how to preform the surgery, by watching it take place.
What "labels do Tally and David see? Give a brief description of what you think each is.
Interrogation Rom One: This is where the Specials ask questions to people who could have done something bad, or might know things that they shouldn't.
Morgue: This is where dead people are kept.):
Interrogation Room Two: This room is in case interrogation room one is full.
Isolation Room One: This is most likely a dungeon, but with a nicer name
Disorientation Room One: If aomeone passes out or if they are confused they go here.
Long-Term Detention: This is like a jail, only a nicer name. Just like the Isolation Room. hahaha
Describe Shay's appearance at the end of the chapter using textual evidence.

"Over the Edge" post 45

In this Chapter a few Uglies go to New Pretty Town to do a trick. They make the words" THE SMOKE LIVES" with sparklers. If you had ONE chance to post a message important to you what would it be and why?
I would talk about my family and tell everyone how great they are and that you should love your family.

"accomplices" post 44

The Uglies they met in this chapter are similar to Tally in the beginning of the book. When her to these uglies, how has Tally changed and what has made her change?
Tally has changed from a little kid who likes to play tricks on people into a older teenager who knows that she is wrong and feels guilty about it, she has little knowledge on what is right and wrong sometimes. the main reason for this change is mostly the smoke.

"Familiar sights" post 43

Do you think that Tally's plan will work? David wants to save his parents, but what is Tally's motive? Do you think she is crazy or are her feelings valid?
I think that tally's plan won't work. I think that she can't fool the Specials.
However Tally will try her hardest to find David's parents because she really likes David and his parents are important to him.

"Oil Plague" post 42

How do David and Tally describe the Rusties? Is it accurate?
Tally and David describe the rusties as people who are crazy for using so much oil. However they know that the oil Plague was most likely an accident.

What are weaknesses of our society?
In the present day society, you are classified mostly by two things, money and looks. Though this is not always true, if you have good looks, you can be a model or movie star and make lots of money. If you have alot of money than people want to be your friend sometimes for your personality, and sometimes for your money. It not always this way though, if you do something really good, then maybe you could be known for it.
What are the weaknesses of their society?
In the book Uglies, their society makes children feel as if they aren't worth anything unless their pretty. However, even when you do turn, you have a wacko brain job along with it and you don't think the same ways as you used to. So your not creative.

"Maddy and Az" post 41

Find information and a picture about a time when we weren't prepared.

"Ruin" post 40

Describe the irony of Tally's "victory" over Dr. Cable. what was lost in the process?
Tally's victory is that she saved a peice of history, but the life of the boss was lost. :(

"Amazing" post 37

Is David right? Is tally amazing? Do you think she should she feeling guilty? Why or Why not?
I think Tally is not amazing, she tells way too many lies and should have come out with the truth in the begining. However I do not think that Tally should feel guilty because all she was doing was trying to dispose of the pendant because she started to like the smoke.

"Run" post 38

Who is the voice in the dark?Do you think will be a friend or a enemy to Tally? What do you think Tally will do now?
The voice in the bushes is most likely a close friend of Tally. I think this because if Smokies are smart enough to live in the wild, they might be able to escape the specials. I think that if Tally knows the person she will start a new Smoke with the person. hahahaha

"In Case of Damage" post 37

Explain what self preservation means to you. Is it the most important thing? Would you lie because of it?
self preservation means to respect yourself and make good choices. If you let someone control you, it is doing no good to anybody. You need to hold yourself to a certain standard, if you don't you will either get caught up in lies or let people run all over you. Even thuogh this is not the most important thing in the world, you should think of self preservation.

"The Rabbit Pen" post 36

Tally had changed her mind about the smoke and the operation, but what will she do about all that now? Whose side is she on?
Since Tally changed her mind about the Smoke she is more than likely on the smokies' sides. Now that Tally has learned about the operation, she will not be wanting to go back to the city and will put up a fight to escape. Even if she does thuogh it will be a tough life with nobody to live with.

"Invasion" post 35

Is the climax of the book? Explain why or why not in a few sentences.
This is the climax of the book because it makes you really tense. The climax of a story is when the story gets most interesting and has the most emotional thoughts. This is the climax of the book because everyone is in a frazzle and Taloly feels as if she did this in a way, but didn't mean to.

"Burning Bridges" post 34

Read thye following quote David says to Tally. "What you do, the way you think, makes you beautiful." Name one person in your personal life and one person in your academic life... what makes them beautiful?
In my personal life I look up to my mom, because she is always there for me. What makes her most beautiful though is that she is very seldomly mad, andshe always has good ideas. (Is that how you spell seldomly?:) The person in my academic is someone who is very sweet, they always seem to be there to joke around.

"Pretty Minds" post33

Respond to the following quote, what does it mean to you/the story?
"Becoming pretty doesn't just change the way you look...it changes the way you think."
How would you want to change mentally and physically if you were pretty?
This quote tells the reader that what most people think is not true. Uglies have been taught that being pretty was the best thing to do, but what they don't know is that the way they think is also being changed. If I were pretty and knew about the brain chip thing, I would want to become educated and not stupid like most prettys. I would probably not want to be changed physically though.

"The Secret" post 32

What does the following quote tell you about the city and society in general? "But you do know about genetics don't you? Sure, I know all about genes. I knew two sisters, uglies, who looked almost the same. But parents and children? That's just weird"
This quote tells you that the operation takes each individual's characteristics away. So mostly evryone looks almost the same.
Predict what you think being "pretty" is.
I think that being pretty is to have a great personality.

"Bravery" post 31

Find an example of imagery, personification and a simile in this chapter.
simile -" Dr. Cable's pendant seemed to grow heavier and heavier, wound around her neck as tightly as the vines..." 243
imagery- "Past cook fires being extinguished with shovelfuls of dirt; windows coming alight with candles and elcetric bulbs;..." 245
personification- "...choking the life out of other plants, out of the soil itself, selfish and unstoppable."

" Suspicion" post 30

Do you think that Shay has the right to be jealous of Tally? Why or why not?
Yes, I think Shay has the right to be jealous of Tally because she was there first and she felt she deserved David.
Tally recieved a gift from David in the chapter that was special. Have you ever recieved a gift that made others jealous as this gift has? Did your gift have a meaning behind it as Tally's had?
Yes, once at Christmas, I recieved five dollars more than my brother. He got so jealous that he tried everything to make me jealous of things he had that I did not. Even though this gift didn't really have tremendous meaning, he still was jealous.

"Heartthrob" post 29

Why would it have been easier for Tally to activate the pendant when she got to the Smoke? Explain.
If Tally had activated the pendant right when she got to the Smoke it would have been easier because nw she has grown attachd to the smokies. Now Tally knows her decision is affeceting other people.

"David" post 28

If David's parents were doctors, why do you think they ran away? Support your answer with textual evidence.
I think that David's parents were trying to get away from people and start a new city. this is because they know that they can preform the surgery and they would get rich because they're the only doctors.

"Work" post 27

Find an image of a skyline like the one Tally sees. post it. What is beautiful about it?Is there anything ugly about it?

The skyline is beautiful because Tally shows how she can see the city lights and this picture fits it perfectly
The only ugly thing about this picture is that it shows how much energy the city uses.
